GameEvent Scheduler

Section 28: Event Game Scheduler

The Event Game Scheduler in NextKast allows you to schedule special events, such as sports, media, or political events, that occur at a specific time and have a defined duration. This tool helps manage and automate the broadcasting of these events by incorporating them into your station’s schedule.

Accessing the Event Game Scheduler

  1. Navigate to the Playlist Rotation Screen: Start by going to the Playlist Rotation screen in NextKast.
  2. Open the Scheduler: Click on the “Schedule” button.
  3. Select Event Game: From the dropdown menu on the right, choose “Event Game.”

Adding a New Event Game

To add a new game or event:

  1. Create a Clock/Rotation: Before scheduling the event, you need to create a clock or rotation that includes all the elements for the event. For example, a sports game clock may resemble a satellite clock, including:
    • A top-of-the-hour ID
    • Merge points for commercials
    • Imaging or satellite feed switches
  2. Open the Rotation Scheduler Window: Once your clock/rotation is set up, return to the Rotation Scheduler window by clicking the “Schedule” button and selecting “Event Game.”
  3. Add Event: Click the “Add Event” button.
  4. Specify Event Details:
    • Date and Time: Enter the date and time when the event will occur.
    • Description: Provide a short description of the event (this is required).
    • Clock/Rotation: Select the clock/rotation that you created for this event from the dropdown menu.
    • Duration: Enter the duration of the event.
  5. Finalize the Event: After entering all the details, the event will be added to the schedule. When the specified date and time arrive, NextKast will automatically play the scheduled content.

Merging Traffic Logs

If traffic (commercials, spots, etc.) is specified for the same time as the event and is imported at a later time, NextKast will automatically remerge the traffic with the clock. This ensures that all scheduled elements are correctly played.

Terminating a Game Event

At the end of the clock/rotation used for a game event, you may need to use the “Terminate Game Event” command:

  • Terminate Game Event: This command marks the event as complete, stopping any further scheduled elements.
    • This is useful if a sports event ends early or if you want to end the broadcast immediately after the event.

By following these steps, you can efficiently manage special events and ensure seamless integration with your regular programming schedule.
