PLM files
Section 29: PLM Files
The PLM files, or playlist macro files, are files that can be located in categories that execute multiple macro events in order. This can be useful when you want to assign a sample or effects button to turn on or off a macro. Here are the steps to create a PLM macro file:
- Navigate to the category where you want to place the macro file.
- Right-click inside the category list view and select Playlist Macro Builder.
- A window resembling the Rotation Builder will appear, but it will be in macro list mode.
- Click in the macro list area and select Insert Playlist Macro.
- Choose the desired macro, such as Start Line In, and press Insert.
- The macro, like Start Line In, will be added to the macro list.
- Optionally, add other macros to the list. For this example, we’ll leave it with just Start Line In.
- Name the macro (e.g., “Line In”) and press Save Playlist Macro. The macro will now appear in the category as if it were an audio asset.
Unique aspects of using PLM files:
- Outside Automation Activation: The PLM file can be activated by outside automation. For instance, if the outside automation specifies “Line In,” it will trigger the corresponding playlist macro.
- Sample or Effects Button Assignment: You can drag the PLM file from the category list onto a sample button or an effects button, allowing you to click it to activate or deactivate the macro.
This is a simple overview of PLM playlist macro files and how they can be beneficial in radio automation.
