Recording Voice Tracks or Announcements from nkManager

Using the nkManager, users can easily record a voice track or announcement, edit it, and save it to a folder for placement in a playlist or sending to clients.

  1. Locate the Record Voice Track Button: Find the “Record Voice Track” button at the top right corner of the nkManager screen, next to the mic button.
  2. Select Microphone and Audio Settings: Before recording, open the mic settings dialog to select the correct microphone. Adjust any necessary audio processing options, such as:
    • Compressor: To balance the dynamic range of your recording.
    • EQ: To enhance or modify the frequency response.
    • Mono: To combine the left and right channels into a single channel.
    • Auto Gain: To automatically adjust the input level for optimal recording volume.
    • Noise Gate: To minimize background noise by cutting off sound below a certain threshold.
  3. Start Recording: Click the “Record Voice Track” button to begin recording your voice or announcement.
  4. Edit the Recording: Once recording is complete, the file will appear in the track editor. Here, you can:
    • Edit with External Audio Editor: Open the recording in your preferred audio editing software for detailed editing.
    • Mark Cue Points: Set start and end points, fade-ins, fade-outs, or other markers.
    • Add Cue Sheets: Insert metadata or instructions relevant to the voice track.
    • Name and Save the File: Specify a file name and choose the folder where you want to save the recording.
  5. Finalize and Use the Recording: After editing, you can add the voice track to a playlist, use it in automated rotations, or send it directly to clients for external use.
