Section 32: Overlay Sweepers

At the top center of the screen, you’ll find the third “sweeper” player, designed for playing overlay sweepers during song transitions or for triggering dry sweepers over songs at specific marked times. The “Sweep Start” point, discussed on the previous page, can be set within a track to trigger either the currently active sweeper (highlighted in blue) or a specifically assigned sweeper.

The checkmarks to the left of the tracks in the sweeper player indicate their inclusion in the sweeper rotation. Each time a sweeper is played, the next available sweeper in the list is selected, ensuring a dynamic rotation. To enable a sweeper to play over a track or during transitions, the “Enable Sweeper Transition” option must be checked next to the corresponding category in the rotation list. This configuration ensures that when a track is played, either the next sweeper in the rotation or the assigned sweeper is triggered at the designated Sweep Start point. If no Sweep Start point is set, NextKast will play the sweeper at the start of the track.

A Static Sweeper can also be assigned to a track, which will play regardless of whether the sweeper checkbox is selected. Static sweepers can be assigned by choosing “Choose Custom Filepath.”

Automated / Microsoft Speech Announcements

NextKast has integrated the ability to automate song title and other announcements using the sweeper player. Upon loading, you’ll notice three “Automated…” options in the sweeper player list:

  1. Automated Title Announcement: Announces the track title as a sweeper.
  2. Automated Station ID & Title Announcement: Announces the station ID (displayed below the large clock) and the current song title.
  3. Automated Message & Title Announcement: Announces a custom message typed into the “Send Message” textbox (found by clicking the button next to the clock) along with the current song title.

This functionality allows for seamless, automated announcements that enhance the listening experience while maintaining consistent station branding.
