Section 35 Backup and Restore

The Backup and Restore Utility provides a trouble-free way to back up and restore your software and state, including music, rotations, playlists, and settings. This ensures that if you need to move to another PC due to hardware failure, your system will be back up in no time.

Starting the Backup Process:

  1. Go to the Settings Window: At the bottom of the screen, you will see the “Backup and Restore” button. Click on it to begin the backup process.
  2. Select the Drive to Backup to: Ensure there is enough space on the chosen drive. The utility will create an NKBackup folder on that drive and make a copy of your current NextKast setup, including all configurations and files.
  3. Start the Backup: Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process. You will be notified once the backup is complete.

Alternatively, you can manually move the entire NextKast data directory specified in the System Folder location from one PC to another. Note that with this method, you must install NextKast on the new PC after moving or copying the folder and complete the registration process again.

Restore Process:

  1. Select the Drive Where You Saved the Backup: Choose the drive containing the NKBackup folder.
  2. Start the Restore: Press the “Start Restore” button. A warning will appear, notifying you that your current state will be overwritten.
  3. Complete the Restore: Confirm the operation and wait for the process to finish. Your NextKast setup will be restored to its previous state, including all music, rotations, playlists, and settings.
