Advanced Sound Card Routing

Section 26: Advanced Sound Card Routing

Audio Sound Card Routing Overview

In most cases, the default sound card settings in NextKast, which separate the broadcast and easy default sound cards, are sufficient for most users. However, some may wish to route audio through separate sound cards and use an external mixer. This section covers how to customize sound card routing in NextKast.

Accessing Sound Card Routing Settings

To access the sound card routing settings:

  1. Go to the Broadcast Settings screen.
  2. In the bottom right corner, click the Output Routing button.

This opens the NextKast Sound Card Routing window, where various output options can be configured.

Configuring Sound Card Outputs

Several options are available for routing different audio outputs to separate sound cards:

  • Main Mixer Output: This defaults to the Windows default sound card but can be changed to any preferred sound card.
  • Player 1 and Player 2 Outputs: Both players can be assigned to different sound cards for independent routing.
  • Sweeper and Effects Output: A separate sound card can be assigned specifically for sweepers and effects.
  • Studio Output: Used for previewing audio.
  • Go Live Output: Configured for remote broadcasting via the “Go Live” feature.

Enabling Auto Gain

Auto gain can be enabled for Player 1, Player 2, and the Sweeper player. This feature utilizes NextKast’s internal auto-gain processor to automatically level the audio output. The settings for auto gain can be adjusted according to user preferences.

Summary

While NextKast includes a built-in mixer that handles most audio routing automatically, these advanced settings provide flexibility for users who prefer to use multiple sound cards and external mixing equipment.
