Screen Modes
3.1 Screen Modes
The NextKast screen layout is divided into six horizontal sections, each serving a specific function in the main playout software. Understanding these sections will help you navigate and control the software more effectively, as different elements are displayed based on the selected screen mode.
- Top Section: This area contains the main program setup and control buttons, providing access to essential functions and settings.
- Virtual CD Players: Below the top section, you’ll find two virtual CD players that handle the playback of files. Note this can be changed in advanced settings to Stacked Players as might be preferred in Radio Studio
- Category Display Area: The third section is a black area with a large plus sign (+) on the right side. This space displays all your categories, and if multiple lines of categories are generated, a scroll bar will appear near the plus sign to navigate through them. (See the “Categories” section for more details.)
- Mode Selection Bars: Under the Category Display Area, you will see four mode bars that allow you to select how the software will operate. Each mode offers different features and functions. The currently selected mode is highlighted in blue. For example, selecting “Playlist Rotation” on the left will activate the corresponding screen mode. You can perform most operations by choosing one of these three modes. (See the “Modes” section for detailed descriptions.)
- Main Music Display Area: Below the mode selection bars is a large black area where music files will be listed as you use the software. This area will also contain additional controls as required for the selected mode.
- Playout-Only Screen: This specialized screen view focuses exclusively on the controls needed during live playout, minimizing distractions and showing only the essential elements for a live host or during automated playout.
